Ultimate in RC technology

February 7, 2006

rmtYou know those times you want to move your lazy backside but you are short on organic-0ctane? Its time like these that you need a Remote-control (thank lord that IR was discovered far berfore the 21st century) to control all those things or make all those stuff happen. That does indicate that RC-technology can make you lazy, but I can even yield to such a sin for a black-beauty like this. Its called “Simpler Remote“, although I though the whole mechanism must be quite complex (uber cool logic if you ask me). This remote can be used to control a whoooole lot of things/appliances, and it comes in black with clear LCD display (*sqeel). It does look like a modded, long, slick i-pod I must say. It removes the complexity from the job of managing the rapidly growing number of electronic devices and media sources in the home, and it also takes the pain out of hardware development for OEMs. All I have to say is that ITS FREAKING AWESOME (too bad, I won’t probably be able to get one…ever…in my life, *sigh).

I’ll put all the detail as it is (in the site of Open-peak , the maker of the simpler remote).consumer electronics devices, PC media and Internet content in the palm of your hand. The OpenPeak SimpleRemote™ is the first remote control that allows consumers to manage TV, computer and Internet content from a single device, bringing much-needed simplicity to today’s home entertainment experience.

The SimpleRemote:

  • Is the easiest to set up and use of any remote in the industry using an interview-based setup that asks a few simple, understandable questions to get the system up and running without connecting to a PC or looking up codes in a manual
  • Provides Integrated control of digital media, enabling users to access MP3 files, digital photos and home videos stored on home computers through the same remote control used for TVs, DVD players, VCRs and other consumer electronics.
  • Allows direct access to Internet services, including Electronic Program Guide (EPG), Internet radio, podcasts, RSS news feeds, and instant messaging.
  • Uses WiFi wireless connectivity, offering a major advantage over competitive devices that must be plugged into a PC to configure the system, change settings, and sync the Electronic Program Guide.
  • Offers a movie-quality 2.2” quarter VGA 262,000-color LCD screen with a market-leading 320 x 240 resolution that is easy to read as well as crisp enough to use to preview digital photos or videos from the user’s PC or WiFi-based baby cams.
  • Supports digital media adapters, allowing media files to be streamed from a PC through an adapter for playback to a TV or receiver.
  • Has multi-room / multi-remote capabilities, making it possible for any SimpleRemote to control devices and media in any room in the house, from any room in the house. The user does not have to be directly in front of the TV, computer or other equipment to control it.
  • Looks like, everyone should go get one right now…it seems delicious ;)
