Viral Media in Retrospect

Yet again Microsoft and its products have failed me…miserably. This time its the new hip (yeah, right) Windows Live Security Centre (Beta!). I just found out about this new release of the Live! family of windows stuff from DIGG. Then like many other curious nOObs I hurried to safety.live.com to take a peek at this shiny new thingy (ooohhhhh….). I was instantly greeted with pep-talks like “What is beta? M$ A: Beta is geekspeak for “not finished yet.” and “Does it cost anything? M$ A:Nope. Windows Live Safety Center is free.” (amazing, when did they learn this nope word? interesting). Then I pushed that shiny yellow button that said “Full service scan”…after a few prolongated moments, I was greeted with the following screen (click the image for bigger view).

Here’s a useful tip for Opera users (those who use its built in email client). When you suspect a scam email (that which is not being sent from a legit sender), you can easily find out if you’re right or not. Just check out the email’s header information.
